MFTA Summer League: Castle 2019

Trust me when I tell you my day didn’t start well, first I decided that eating half an Easter egg for breakfast was a good idea, it wasn’t. On the way to Phil’s, there was a small rabbit in the road and then there wasn’t because I reduced it to road plasma with a 2 ton Honda. So, feeling ill and then killing the Easter bunny in nothing short of 30 minutes, not an ideal start Martin!

With the weather being so good, I expected Castle to be long with the odd angle thrown in on the M1 side, always tricky if you play the edges but the weather was absolutely cracking and the turn out for the start of the season was pretty good.

All I had to do was stick to the plan and stay focused when I needed to, easily said but after the Champs/Inters and some terrible practice session I really wasn’t up for a repeat or dragging my bottom lip on the floor for 3hrs, head down and screwed on.

I didn’t care what anyone else was doing and I knew I was going to beat Phil for sure after he set off rushing with his usual follow through technique of imitating a meerkat. This was going to be a good day, where I checked and double checked everything and stayed in the bubble.

I’ll save you a target by target blow but it was a long course and just about spot on for the weather, classic switching wind of Castle, you just had to wait for it to show up to shoot against or drop. Cracking day out and nice to get another good shoot under the belt before heading into the Grand Prix season.

I had a bit of a joke with Ian Taylor after but beating Ian once doesn’t mean anything, it did make me smile though, let’s hope I’m still smiling after Hellride!
